Dedication of a memorial sign at the construction site of the exposition and exhibition museum center

On October 17, with the blessing of His Holiness Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia, Metropolitan Theognost of Kashira, chairman of the Synodal Department for Monasteries and Monasticism, consecrated a memorial sign at the construction site of the exposition and exhibition center of the State Historical Museum, near the walls of the Novodevichy Stavropol Convent.

Before the service began, the Patriarchal Vicar of the Moscow Metropolitanate, Metropolitan Pavel of Kolomna and Krutitsky, co-chairman of the Organizing Committee for the preparation and celebration of the 500th anniversary of the founding of the Novodevichy Monastery, addressed the audience with an archpastoral address.

On behalf of the President of the Russian Federation, Vladimir Putin, in 2023, construction of an exposition and exhibition center, a structural unit of the State Historical Museum, began near the Novodevichy Monastery in Luzhnetsky Passage. The specialists of the Historical Museum are working on the creation of a permanent exhibition, where the unique collection of the Novodevichy Monastery will be fully displayed, and its 500-year history will be presented. An art project for the future exhibition has been prepared and will soon be presented to the public.

The new museum center with an area of more than 10 thousand square meters will be part of the structure of the State Historical Museum. The project provides a storage facility for valuable artistic and historical monuments included in the museum fund of the Russian Federation, as well as facilities for cultural events and public spaces. The museum's exhibition space will cover 1,700 square meters. Exhibits from the Historical Museum's collections will be placed there: icons, church vestments, works of church art, old printed and handwritten books, frescoes and other collections that make up the pride of the National Museum of Russia. The new museum is scheduled to open in 2026.
